Rydal Vikings face strong RGC 1404 squad for Bleddyn Williams Cup

The Rydal Vikings faced the RGC 1404 team for the Bleddyn Williams Cup on 2nd January 2012 at Colwyn Bay RFC in this rescheduled fixture.

With bad weather and a water logged pitch having delayed the original fixture in December, both teams were ready and raring to go. RGC 1404 took the lead by 12 points early in the game, however the Vikings – whose team is made up of former Rydal Penrhos School pupils – responded with a try of their own.

Despite a number of opportunities for Rydal Vikings, they were unable to score again and the final result was 22-5 to RGC 1404.

This was a good performance for the RGC 1404, with eight players from the RGC under-18s playing their first senior team game.
