We have several events coming up over the next year which provide perfect opportunities for you to get together with old friends and reminisce!
Vikings v RGC 1404 Rugby Match – 21 December 20011, 7pm
Come and support the Vikings who will be taking on RGC 1404 at Eirias Park.
Dubai Reunion Dinner – 16 February 2012
Are you currently in Dubai? Would you like to catch up with other members who are also in the area? Now is your chance! There will also be the opportunity to speak to myself and our Headmaster, Patrick Lee-Browne about life at Rydal Penrhos today. Venue and time TBC.
We will also have a stand at the UK Boarding Schools Exhibition being held at the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah on 16,17 and 18 February between 2-7pm, so please feel free to come and say hello!
Hong Kong Reunion Dinner – 22 February 2012
This is the perfect opportunity to meet fellow alumni who are in the Hong Kong area. The dinner will take place at HK Club, Central, and will also be attended by our Headmaster, Patrick Lee-Browne. A great chance to share your memories of your time in Colwyn Bay!
Patrick will also be at the UK Education Exhibition at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, 1 Harbour Road, Wan Chai on 25 and 26 February.
Manchester Dinner – 17 March 2012
The Manchester Dinner will be taking place in The Rose Room, Room Restaurant, 81 King Street, Manchester. Taking place in central Manchester, with a private dining room and private bar (open until 2am), this is the perfect chance to meet up with those who are based in the North West. The price will be £35 per head which includes a 3 course meal.
Leavers of the 50s Lunch – 15 April 2012
Did you leave Rydal School or Penrhos College between 1950-1959? We are holding a Sunday Lunch Reunion especially for you! Join us for a tour of the site followed by a traditional 3 course Sunday lunch in our dining hall. The tour will include old and new parts of the campus, as well as a visit through both the Penrhos and Rydal archives collection. The cost for this will be £20 per head.
There will also be the opportunity for a round of golf at Conwy on Saturday, which will be organised by John Sefton (RS 1948-58)
Cambridge Reunion Dinner – 12 May 2012
The Cambridge Dinner will be held at Jesus College, Cambridge, and includes a reception in the Prioress Room at 7pm followed by dinner in the Upper Hall at 8pm. The cost will be £50 to include reception drink, 3 course dinner, wines, coffee and truffles. We are also able to offer a 2 hour professionally guided tour of Cambridge and Colleges departing from the Guildhall in Market Square at 2pm. The cost for this will be £5 per person.
A number of rooms have been reserved at The Arundel and Ashley Hotels in Cambridge, which are only a 5 minute walk from Jesus College. Prices start at £85 per night. Leaver’s and Alumni Ball – 2 June 2012
Join us as our U6 students celebrate the end of their school life, and welcome them into the Rydal Penrhos Society. Held in a marquee on New Field, this is a great chance to return to school for a very special event. Why not get a group of you together, book a table, and get your glad rags on!
Rydal Penrhos Regatta – 23 – 24 June 2012
Sailing has always been a feature at both Rydal and Penrhos, and continues to thrive today. The Rydal Penrhos Regatta is your chance to come back and take to the sea! Whether you are taking part or are a spectator this promises to be a fantastic event.
Dolphins Week – 28 June 2012
This annual cricket event takes place w/c 28 June. Further details will be available in due course.
German Reunion – August 2012
Following a successful event last year where 25 students met up in Frankfurt, we are organising a German reunion to be held in August. Further details will be available soon!
Founder’s Weekend – 22-23 September 2012
Celebrating the founders of Rydal School and Penrhos College (Thomas Osborn and Rev. Frederick Payne), this annual event is a highlight of our calendar. If you are organising a reunion of your own, why not arrange it to coincide with Founder’s Weekend? With a special service at St John’s Church, tours of the school, Vikings rugby, Old Girls’ hockey and netball, displays of memorabilia from Rydal and Penrhos, and much more, this is an event not to be missed! More details and a full programme of events will be available soon.
North Wales Dinner and Society AGM – 9 November 2012
The North Wales Dinner is always a successful event, so why not mark it in your calendar for 2012? If you are in the North Wales area, or fancy returning for a winter mini-break, this is the perfect chance to meet up with old friends. The Society AGM takes place prior to the dinner, and all members are welcome to attend. Further details will be available soon.
London Reunion Dinner
We are also hoping to arrange a London event this year, following the successful dinner at the East India Club in June 2011. Dates are yet to be confirmed, however we will let you know further details as soon as we can.
Golf Events
We have a full programme of golf events coming up this year, including the Silcock Salver on 19-20 April, the Marsden Trophy on 18 May, the Pochin Trophy on 21 September and the Welsh Public Schools Tournament in October.
